The Columbus/Bartholomew County E-911 Center is now benefitting from the installation of cameras at critical intersections impacted by increased railroad traffic.
Tree clearing will begin January 10 as part of preliminary work to upgrade the railroad bridge at the Flat Rock River crossing in Noblitt Park. Work is expected to continue over several weeks as weather permits as numerous trees are removed to allow for room for cranes and equipment to move into the area for bridge construction.
As part of preliminary work to upgrade the railroad bridge at the Flat Rock River crossing in Noblitt Park, crews will begin tree removal in the area beginning the week of November 27.
Louisville & Indiana Railroad and the Indiana Department of Transportation will close the railroad crossing on the east side of the Robert Stewart Bridge beginning Friday evening, October 6 through Sunday, October 8.
CSX and Louisville & Indiana railroads announced they will begin increasing the frequency, length and speed of freight trains on the rail line from Seymour to Indianapolis as soon as August 21. That includes trains traveling through the crossing at State Road 46 and State Road 11 on Columbus’ west side.
