Despite the pandemic and the Governor’s lock-down order, Milestone Contractors has continued working on the project and they are making great progress. They are meeting and exceeding the project’s very aggressive schedule. We are now entering the phase of the project when traffic will be disrupted by the construction work.
Currently, State Road 11 is closed south of State Road 46 from June 1 to July 1. This closure is necessary to allow the contractors to rebuild and realign SR 11 with the new configuration. Following the SR 11 closure, there will be lane closures in order to connect the new sections of roadway to the existing sections. Please be patient and cautious during these short term lane closures.
Meanwhile, the construction of the overpass over the railroad continues. The concrete deck is scheduled to be poured June 6 and July 2. Once the deck is poured, railings will be added and the overpass will be ready for traffic later this year.
Milestone, INDOT, City of Columbus, and all of the other subcontractors, utilities, and engineers have all worked hard to coordinate details and to keep this project on schedule. Just a few more months to go and we will all enjoy safe, smooth traffic flow on the west side of Columbus. Thanks for your cooperation.
